Juillet, lors du Festival d'Echasses de Deventer. Nous étions
cinq
compagnies françaises et nous nous sommes concertés,
tant pour l'action à mener que pour l'écriture
du texte. Une conférence de presse à été faite
sur notre combat en France et le Maire
de Deventer, nous a assuré de son soutien (comme l'a déjà évoqué Henry
Krul). Il a précisé qu'il ferait part de son émoi
auprès des instances
politiques hollandaises et qu'il écrirait à M. Raffarin
pour marquer son
soutien à notre cause.

Plasticiens Volants, Le Théâtre du Vertige, Tal'harn
and Bonheur Intérieur
Brut, all of us French Cies, we have the pleasure to play for you

We wish to inform you of the danger that threatens the culture in
France.
The French government has started series of measures that threaten
the
freedom of creation and of artistic expression in France. Such
measures would mean the disappearance of a lot of artists and technicians,
in the
performing arts, condemning to death numerous Cies and numerous
festivals.
A Company such as ours would not exist next
year. That is why all the French
professional performing artists and technicians unite to say "No
!" to the
government, through a large movement of strikes and cancellations
of
festivals.
Here, in Holland, the strike would have no sense, but it is the
duty of all
citizens to allow access to culture for all of us. The threat over
French
culture is only one aspect of all the measures that threaten the
social
structures in European countries.
We wish that social structures acquired inside each European country
be
enlarged to other countries instead of being suppressed in the
name of
liberal rules.
By informing you of our fight, we ask you to question the society
in which
all of us would like to live in and in which all of us would like
to see our
children grow.

PS (1) : En devant nous exprimer à l'étranger, il
nous est apparut tout à fait inutile d'entrer dans
des détails de statut. En effet,
chaque pays a
trouvé une méthode plus ou moins équitable pour
financer sa culture. En
France, les subventions "démocratiques" que représentent
les Indemnités
Assedic, sont accompagnées (ou non) de subventions, données
en fonction de
la tête du client. Et tout ça finissait tant bien que
mal par s'équilibrer.
En rognant le système par les deux bouts (gel ou diminution
de subventions
et modification du statut), c'est la liberté d'expression
artistique qui est
mise à mort.
PS (2) : Nos dirigeants sont plein d'humour. Du purgatoire de Raffarin
au
Kapo de Berlusconi, on commence à distinguer ce qui sous-tend
le
néoliberalisme. Le fascisme avance masqué.
7 JULI 2003 - DEVENTER - De Franse steltenlopers hebben gisteren
een petitie aangeboden aan burgemeester James van Lidth de Jeude.
De Franse groepen worden in hun voortbestaan bedreigd door maatregelen
van de Franse regering.
Staken heeft hier in Nederland geen nut, beseften de tientallen
Franse acteurs en technici die voor het steltenfestival waren neergestreken
in Deventer. In Frankrijk liggen momenteel echter grote festivals
helemaal plat. 'Wij zijn bang dat meer dan vijftig procent van
de groepen de maatregelen niet zullen overleven', aldus een woordvoerster
van de Fransen. 'Ik ben van Cavaluna en we werken met elf mensen.
Wij overleven het niet als dit doorgaat.'
De Franse regering wil het de artiesten moeilijker maken een werkloosheidsuitkering
aan te vragen in de slappe maanden. Volgens de artiesten is zonder
vooraankondiging de subsidiekraan al dichtgedraaid.
'Wij willen u informeren over het gevaar dat ons bedreigt', vertelden
de Fransen aan de mensen die nieuwsgierig dichterbij kwamen in
de Rijkmanstraat. De acteurs, nog herkenbaar aan hun kostuums,
maar voor de rest ineens weer mens, boden daar de burgemeester
hun petitie aan. 'Dit bedreigt niet alleen de Franse acteurs maar
het totale culturele klimaat in Europa', hielden de acteurs de
toehoorders voor. Als de groepen niet meer bestaan kan een evenement
als Deventer op Stelten ook niet meer gebruik maken van hun diensten.
Burgemeester Van Lidth de Jeude en VVV-directeur Hein te Riele
waren maar al te zeer doordrongen van de ernst van de situatie.
'Wij sturen als gemeente en als organisatie een brief naar de Franse
regering', beloofde Van Lidth de acteurs. 'Wij kunnen het niet
veranderen, maar wel aansluiten bij het protest en de Fransen zijn
best gevoelig voor buitenlandse reacties.'
